Practice
Eugene restricts his practice to defence litigation, involving liability and damages analysis
with respect to personal injury matters, MVA - Bill 59/Bill 198 (tort side),
insurance claims (both defence and coverage matters), municipal liability
and products liability. Lately, Eugene has been
involved in a number of large forestry equipment property claims, assembling
a team of expert witnesses which have collectively raised the bar in terms
of establishing and rethinking causation issues.
Gene has also been
involved in actions involving insurance coverage, successfully defending
attempts to find coverage where policy wording suggests otherwise.
He has a wide range of litigation experience,
with appearances as trial and appeal counsel before all levels of courts in
Ontario, including the Ontario Court of Appeal.

Professional Interests
Eugene frequently attends
continuing legal education programs offered by the Law Society of Upper
Canada and the Canadian Institute involving topics such as municipal
liability, motor vehicle legislation, litigation and advocacy tactics, and
insurance issues.
Has successfully completed both the Intensive
Trial Advocacy Workshop through Osgoode Hall Law School in Toronto and the
"Defense Trial Academy", sponsored by the International
Association of Defense Counsel in Boulder, Colorado. |
